Starting a packaging project
What buyers usually need to know before requesting a sample or quotation.
What information do you need to quote a custom packaging project?
Start with the product being packed, packaging format, dimensions, estimated quantity, artwork status, performance requirements, target timing, and delivery location. If some specifications are unknown, share a reference package or explain the application so the team can identify the next decisions.
Can P&M support both samples and large production runs?
P&M supports projects from concept and prototyping through production and delivery, including early samples and scale-up planning. The suitable sample method, production process, minimum quantity, cost, and timing depend on the exact packaging format and specification.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Minimum order quantity varies by package type, size, material, print process, tooling, and production route. Share the expected quantity and project stage so P&M can evaluate an appropriate path instead of applying one blanket MOQ to every product.
How long does custom packaging production take?
Timing depends on engineering, artwork readiness, sampling, material availability, tooling, approvals, production method, quantity, and delivery requirements. A project-specific schedule is confirmed during quotation after the specification is sufficiently defined.
Flexible packaging, boxes, labels, and molded packaging
Format-specific questions for the four main packaging systems.
What flexible packaging formats can P&M evaluate?
Projects may include stand-up pouches, flat-bottom or box pouches, three-side-seal pouches, side-gusset bags, quad-seal bags, shaped pouches, spouted pouches, rollstock film, coffee bags, and application-specific structures. Availability and specifications require confirmation for the exact project.
Do you make custom printed paper boxes and folding cartons?
Yes. P&M evaluates custom printed paper boxes, folding cartons, food and retail boxes, displays, corrugated packaging, and other paperboard structures based on product fit, board choice, print, finishing, quantity, and delivery needs.
Can labels and shrink sleeves be coordinated with the main package?
Yes. Pressure-sensitive labels and shrink sleeves can be planned alongside the container or package so artwork, application surface, dimensions, material, finish, and production requirements are coordinated.
Can P&M help develop molded packaging and tooling?
P&M can evaluate injection-molded and thermoformed or blister packaging projects, including mold and tooling development. Product geometry, material, tolerances, application, testing needs, expected volume, and tooling ownership must be defined for the project.
Artwork, materials, and compliance
Important limits for files, material choices, and packaging claims.
What artwork files should I provide?
Provide editable source artwork, linked high-resolution images, fonts or outlined type, color references, dielines, finish layers, and production notes when available. Final file requirements depend on the package and printing process.
Can you recommend a material or barrier structure?
P&M can help organize material and barrier decisions around the product, filling process, shelf-life goal, distribution conditions, package format, sealing requirements, and applicable testing. A structure should not be selected from a general website statement alone.
Are recyclable, compostable, biodegradable, or food-contact claims guaranteed?
No blanket environmental or food-contact claim applies to every package. Any claim must be confirmed for the exact material structure, application, market, test report or certification, authorized mark use, scope, and validity period.
