Direct answer

Select a gummy candy pouch using the actual formulation and filled product. Record water activity or other product-team quality limits, piece surface and coating, fill conditions, seal contamination and storage exposure. Validate texture and sticking in the finished package rather than assigning every gummy the same moisture barrier or shelf life.

Start with the gummy, not a generic candy bag

Gummies differ in sugars, gelatin or alternative gelling systems, acids, surface coatings and piece geometry. A [2025 experimental gummy-candy study](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12428044/) reported that moisture influences texture and storage behavior in the tested formulations. The finding is a reason to measure the brand's own product; it is not a universal water-activity target or packaging specification.

P&M's [candy packaging page](/industries/candy-packaging) supports custom pouches and printed rollstock for gummies and other confections. The maker must define its own food-quality limits and storage conditions. Do not infer product safety from the appearance of a clear or metallized bag.

Look for three different failure paths

First, the product can change texture or become tacky under its own formulation and the storage environment. Second, pieces can cling to one another or the inner film after handling. Third, sugar or coating in the top-seal area can affect the package closure. These are separate observations: a film's moisture-transmission data cannot tell the team whether the chosen filling method keeps the seal clean.

Use actual gummy pieces and the planned net fill when comparing a clear window, opaque panel, zipper or single-serve pack. For repeated opening, assess the package after consumer-like access as well as in the unopened state.

The brand's product and quality teams choose the tests, limits and duration. This worksheet makes candidates comparable without claiming P&M has run the trial.

Send a gummy-specific RFQ

Share formula category and coating, gummy sample, fill weight, current package, known water-activity or texture limits from the food team, desired pouch format, window and zipper request, filling and sealing route, quantities per artwork, storage and destination. Label unknown barrier targets as questions for testing. The [general candy guide](/knowledge-center/candy-packaging-guide) compares confectionery formats; this article focuses on moisture, sticking and seals for gummies.
