Freeze one requirements sheet for the comparison

This process is for comparing quotations you already have. Begin with one dated requirements sheet and check which revision each supplier used. The packaging RFQ checklist covers the earlier inquiry stage; here the question is whether the offers represent the same purchase.

Identify the household product category and formula information available for review, pH and expected variation, fill amount, viscosity or particles, fill temperature and filling method. Include the drawing, proposed material, spout and cap requirements, artwork revisions, quantity per SKU, sample and validation scope, packing, destination and delivery basis. List unknowns openly rather than describing an incomplete specification as fixed.

Separate an offered specification from a confirmed match

Copy the actual offered specification into the comparison, including revision identifiers and exclusions. If a supplier suggests another structure or fitment, record the deviation beside the requirement. A technically reasonable alternative can remain under review; it should not be silently treated as equivalent to the requested package.

Use a status such as aligned to the stated requirement, clarification needed or trial evidence pending. These describe the quotation review, not the final production release. Add an owner and a response date for every open item so that the lowest visible price does not become the default answer to an unresolved technical question.

Do not let a barrier label stand in for compatibility evidence

For household liquids, choosing aluminum foil (AL) or metallized PET (VMPET) is not a decision based on pH alone. Volatility, light protection, aroma retention, shelf-life needs and flexing or transport risk affect the barrier discussion. pH is particularly relevant to the resistance required of the inner PE, spout and adhesive. Ordinary liquids may not require either metal barrier path.

When two quotes name different structures, ask which requirement each proposal is intended to address and which exact combination has supporting evidence. Do not invent a universal pH range, PE grade or layer thickness to force a match. Formula-specific compatibility and finished-package checks remain necessary to establish suitability for the intended application.

Reconcile included work before comparing price

Keep a separate commercial checklist for printing setup or tooling, sample preparation, agreed testing, packing, freight and other stated charges. Mark each as included, separately quoted, excluded or not yet answered. A blank item is not a zero cost. Compare the stated scope and quantity basis before asking the supplier to explain a price difference.

Also compare the conditions attached to timing. Record whether a production estimate starts after artwork approval, a sample release or another defined milestone, and whether transport is included in the stated period. Do not convert a conditional estimate into an arrival promise. This sheet organizes the offers; it does not calculate an unsupported landed cost or establish customs treatment.

Review substitutions before carrying evidence forward

ISTA's retesting guidance calls for renewed testing when product, package or process changes can affect performance, including changes to components and distribution. If an offered substitution changes a previously qualified combination, ask the responsible team whether the existing evidence still applies.

Close the comparison with a list of aligned requirements, accepted deviations and remaining conditions. A commercially accepted quote should not erase pending sample, compatibility or integrity decisions. Production release should refer to the final agreed specification and the evidence required by that project.

For a P&M household refill pouch review, send your own requirements sheet and unresolved packaging questions. There is no need to share another supplier's confidential quotation. P&M can review the proposed pouch route and quotation scope; material suitability, sample work, quantities and delivery conditions require confirmation for the actual project.
