Identify the interface before comparing numbers
A multilayer sachet report needs to say which layers were separated. Request the construction revision and an unambiguous interface description from the supplier or evaluator. A number labeled bond strength without that identity leaves the buyer unable to determine which part of the construction it represents.
For a reported delamination, retain the sample identity, location and image reference. Record whether the sample was an unfilled laminate, an empty converted sachet or a filled package. Keep the observation separate from the proposed cause until the investigation supports a conclusion.
Check what the cited F904 edition actually covers
ASTM F904-22 is a practice for separating laminate plies so that bond strength or ply adhesion can be measured. Its public scope describes specimen preparation for that purpose. A reference to F904-22 alone should not be treated as a complete measurement specification.
Ask for the actual measurement method and version, specimen details, units and failure description in addition to the preparation reference. Do not copy an older edition’s title or scope into a current approval form. The evaluator should resolve which procedure was actually used before the buyer compares results.
Connect cure and formula-contact history to the specimen
The F904-22 public significance section distinguishes uncured and cured bond contexts where reactive bonding agents need time to develop performance. Record the relevant state and dates with the specimen rather than assuming that all results describe the same laminate condition.
Garrido-López and colleagues’ research investigated particular cosmetic ingredients and multilayer sachet constructions using exposure and subsequent evaluation. It supports investigating formula–laminate interactions, not transferring its material outcomes or laboratory conditions to every cosmetic sachet.
For a project review, identify whether the submitted result was obtained before or after formula contact. If that is unknown, leave the question open. A dry-laminate report and a report on an exposed sachet can answer different parts of the approval brief.
Use a laminate-report acceptance worksheet
This original buyer worksheet organizes the document review. It is not a peel-test procedure, an acceptance limit or evidence that PM Packaging has tested the proposed sachet.
| Report field | Question for the evaluator | Approval gap if absent |
|---|---|---|
| Construction and interface | Which revision and layer interface were evaluated? | The result cannot be assigned to the intended interface |
| Specimen origin | Flat laminate, empty sachet or filled package? | Representativeness remains unclear |
| Cure and history | Which relevant state, dates and exposure history apply? | Unlike specimens may be compared |
| Ply preparation | How was separation initiated and documented? | Preparation remains unspecified |
| Measurement | Which method/version, units and failure description were used? | A preparation citation is mistaken for the full test |
| Formula contact | Which product and conditions, if any, preceded measurement? | Formula compatibility remains outside the evidence |
| Acceptance | Who approves which construction and use? | A numerical report is mistaken for a release decision |
Keep the release decision narrower than the evidence gap
Ask the formula and quality owners to define remaining work and its acceptance criteria. If a report concerns only one interface, retain that boundary in the decision. A report can inform further evaluation without qualifying every layer, seal and use condition of the finished sachet.
Use the cosmetic compatibility guide for the wider formula-to-package review. Use sachet opening validation for the consumer tear path. Neither replaces the interface and specimen identity required here.
Send a construction brief with the report
For beauty and personal-care packaging, provide the sachet format, dimensions, fill quantity, formula category and quantity by SKU. Add the current construction, report and observed issue where available, with sensitive formulation details shared through an agreed channel.
Request clarification of the proposed construction and samples, and agree who supplies specialized laboratory evaluation. Avoid asking for a universally stronger laminate when the interface and intended acceptance decision have not yet been defined.
