Direct answer

P&M's general coffee-bag production baseline starts from 100 pieces per SKU, while a paid custom sample can start from 1 piece. The exact MOQ depends on bag format, dimensions, material structure, print route, quantity per artwork, valve or zipper, finish, lamination, and converting setup. Qualified digital and offset projects can avoid conventional plate fees; rotogravure plate or cylinder fees and finishing tooling are confirmed in the quotation.

Start with the general production baseline

The current general production baseline starts from 100 finished bags per SKU. This is a starting point for project review, not a universal minimum for every coffee-bag construction. Material availability, laminate preparation, pouch dimensions, valve or zipper, print route, finish, and converting setup can require a different quantity.

List each size, artwork, and expected quantity separately in the RFQ. A 12 oz bag and a 2 lb bag do not automatically share one minimum, and several artworks should not be combined into a total quantity unless the approved production route explicitly supports it.

  • General production baseline: 100 pieces per SKU
  • Paid custom sample: from 1 piece
  • Quantity listed by size and artwork
  • Process-specific minimum confirmed in the quote
  • Material, valve, zipper, finish, and converting reviewed together

Plan multi-SKU coffee programs without hiding inventory risk

A qualified coffee family may use fully printed artwork for every SKU or one shared bag with controlled labels for roast, origin, grind, lot, or flavor information. The useful comparison includes the quantity per artwork, label application, barcode and variable-data control, repeat frequency, obsolete-inventory risk, and the customer experience.

A shared bag does not automatically let unrelated formats, dimensions, or materials share one MOQ. Confirm which production elements are genuinely common and keep each SKU's quantity, artwork revision, label, and approval record separate.

Match the printing route to the complete order plan

Digital and qualified offset routes can support shorter runs or multiple artworks without conventional gravure cylinders. Rotogravure is often evaluated for larger repeat volumes, selected materials, demanding color programs, or finish combinations where its setup and run economics fit the project.

Do not choose a route from one quantity threshold alone. Compare total quantity, quantity per SKU, material, color and opacity, finish, setup, proofing, expected reorders, inventory carrying cost, and the likelihood of artwork changes.

Understand plate, cylinder, and finishing-tool charges

Qualified digital and offset projects do not use conventional rotogravure cylinders, so conventional plate fees do not apply. Rotogravure plate or cylinder fees can depend on the bag format, dimensions, color count, quantity, and quoted production route.

Foil stamping, embossing, screen effects, die cutting, and other finishes may require separate tooling. The quotation should identify whether setup or tooling is charged, included, waived for a qualifying quantity, reusable for an unchanged reorder, or subject to replacement.

What to include in a useful coffee-bag quotation request

Provide whole-bean or ground coffee, fill weight, bag format or reference package, dimensions, barrier and shelf-life target, zipper and one-way valve needs, artwork count, finish, quantity for every size and SKU, sample requirements, delivery destination, and target date.

The resulting quotation should state the sample route, production MOQ by SKU, printing method, material structure, setup or tooling charges, approvals, production timing, freight scope, and the conditions that could change price or schedule.
